Laminil saves jumper that developed into grade 4 sinker

January 20, 2014

This is updated video of Cherry, an Oldenburg grand prix show jumper, five weeks after the horse was treated with Laminil. Watch the video and then read on for Cherry’s story.

Cherry, 10, developed laminitis in October 2013 from stress and heat and failed to improve. The horse deteriorated to an OBEL grade 4 sinker. It was lying down 20 hours a day, had bed sores and had developed a bad abscess in its left front foot. The horse remained in this condition for five weeks before being treated with Laminil.

Five days after the first treatment, video showed the horse walking around its stall, though still recovering.

Following two treatments of Laminil, the horse had surgery to clean up the abscess and pressure points from sinking.

Three weeks after the horse started Laminil treatments, video showed the horse moving well. The vet overseeing the case reported the horse was up all the time and recovering extremely well.

Laminil is being credited with saving this horse.

The Laminil team welcomes any questions about this case study that could help you if you find your horse in a similar situation.
